Inspiration: Do No Worry

Do not worry because it "does not add one cubit" to our lives.

Dr. Martin R. De Haan said that worry is a sin. It is caused by lack of faith, a failure to believe God’s word. Yet, it is a sin that many Christians find hard to overcome. Today, meditate to stop and think of the things that you have worried about. We tend to be filled with anxiety over what might happen but never does. So, why worry? Jesus said that it’s futile to fret for worry can’t change anything (Matt. 6:27). We need to remember that our heavenly Father knows all about our situation and watches over us (vv. 28-34). We can be sure that He will take care of our needs no matter what tomorrow brings. It’s better therefore to be wise and trust the Lord. Remember, worry never solved a problem! Indeed, Jesus taught us not “worry about tomorrow… Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).

Inspiration: Living Life to the Fullest

The only life that’s worthwhile—be it long or short—is the one spent in service for the Lord and in bringing blessings to others. Indeed, what matters is not long we live, but how well we live. It is better to add life to our years than years to our lives. “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth” (Ecc. 12:1)

Great Preachers

The greatest sermons that I have ever heard were not preached from pulpits but from sickbeds. The deepest thoughts of God’s words have often been taught by those humble souls who have gone through the seminary of affliction.

The most cheerful people I have met, with few exceptions, have been those who’ve had the least sunshine and the most pain and suffering in their lives. The most grateful people I have ever known were not those who have traveled a pathway of roses all their lives, but those who were confined in their homes, some on their beds, and had learned to depend on God.

The gripers, on the other hand, are usually those who have the least to complain about. The men and women who are the most cheerful and the most grateful for the blessings of the Almighty God are often those who have gone through the greatest trials.

James tells us “The testing of your faith produces patience,” (James 1:3)so if we are suffering, let us not be disheartened , because as Peter (1 Peter 1:7) puts it, everything is all worth it.

On Trusting Him

Because we are prone to drifting away from Him, the Lord must discipline us to get us back to the right course (Heb. 12:9-11), although sometimes it seems as if God allows circumstances into our lives that are harming us and are without sense of plan. But take heed, let us set our "mind on thins above, not on things on the earth," (Col. 3:2) because they are God's loving way of drawing us closer to Him.

On Sharing Our Blessings

When you grasp you lose; when you give to God, you gain. Indeed, “He who sows sparingly also reaps sparingly, and he sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6). Israel’s wise man said, “There is one who scatters, yet increases more” (Proverbs 11:24). It is one of the oldest paradoxes in the world.

On generosity: Remember, the more we give, the more we receive.

Calm Amidst the Storm

When we are battered by the storms of life, we may look tempted to give in to feelings of hopelessness. Be if we look to God and commit our way to Him, we will find peace even in the midst of turmoil. We can trust Him to bring us through the storm. Indeed, God may calm the storm around us, but more often He’ll come the storm within us. Thus, “commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall it bring it pass.” (Psalm 37:5)

God Cares

Where God guides, He provides. So instead of worrying what's ahead of us, we can trust the Lord to be there to care for us. Indeed, "The Lord preserves all who love Him," (Psalm 145:20) because he is "righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works." (Psalm 145:17).

Where God guides, He provides.

Today's Inspiration: Greatest is He Who Serves

“Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” (Matthew 20:26)

Greatest is he who serves
This story tells best how one of history’s greatest leaders served a model of humble servitude.  A noncommissioned officer was directing the repairs of a military building during the American Revolution. He was barking orders to the soldiers under his command, trying to get them to raise a heavy wooden beam.

As the men struggled in vain to lift the beam into place, a man who was passing by stopped to ask the one in charge why he wasn’t helping the men. With all the pomp of an emperor, the soldier responded, “Sir, I am a corporal!”

“You are, are you?” replied the passerby, “I was not aware of that.” Taking off his hat and bowing, he said, “I ask your pardon, Corporal.” Then the stranger walked over and helped the soldiers lift the heavy beam. After the job was finished, he said, “Mr. Corporal, when you have another such job, and have not enough men, send for your Commander in Chief, and I will come and help you a second time.” The corporal was thunderstruck. The person speaking to him was General Washington!

God measures greatness by service. The Lord Jesus has set an example, for though He was God and worthy of all honor, He “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28). Indeed, Henry Bosch  said, “To be great in God’s sight, we must serve!”
