To Speak or Not to Speak

source: capitolcolumns.blogspot.com

When should we keep quiet and when should we speak? Herb Vander Lugt said that “sometimes silence is the best response to a false charge. At other times we must speak up.” In Mark 14; 61, Jesus kept silent and answered nothing when the Sanhedrin accused falsely accused him. However, in John 8:13-59, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and challenged them that he sinned.

To speak or not to speak is a matter of thinking of doing what is right and wrong. If you think that there is no use to argue with others or if your pride has been hurt by others, it is best to keep the tongue from wagging. Instead, pray and seek God’s grace to say nothing. But if you think and you feel that justice should be sought for the wrong that others did, then, speak up and say the truth.

Remember, silence is as priceless as a gem. So don’t break it until you can improve it.
